The Department of Art and Design at Augusta University seeks outstanding applicants for a full-time lecturer in Animation. This person will teach four animation and/or foundation-level studio courses in-person per semester. In addition, the lecturer will also advise Art & Design students. This is a non-tenure-track faculty position (9-month contract) with duties anticipated to begin in August 2024.
Responsibilities - Teach four animation and/or foundation-level studio courses per semester.
- Possible courses for Animation include Motion Graphics, Animation History & Fundamentals, 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Technical Animation & Rigging, 3D Modeling, Previsualization, and Short Format Storytelling. Foundational-level studio courses are those situated in the department's BFA and BA degree programs. Foundation courses include Drawing I, 2D Design, and Color Experience & Theory.
- Software packages currently taught in our Animation program include the Autodesk Maya, Maxon Zbrush, Substance Painter, Adobe Creative Cloud, Unreal Engine, Toon Boom Harmony, and Storyboard Pro.
Required Qualifications MFA or equivalent terminal degree in the appropriate discipline or its equivalent in training, ability, or experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications An established record of teaching experience and industry experience, artistic practice, or publication.
Shift/Salary/Benefits This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.
Lecturer: $46,000 - $50,000- The salary is subject to availability of funds.
