Join our dynamic Underwriting team as a Commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriter, where you'll play a key role in supporting our expanding portfolio of business. Position Description:
As a Commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriter, you will be responsible for:
- Evaluating new business accounts to ensure they align with in-house binding authority guidelines and internal underwriting philosophies.
- Using our computer systems and multiple carrier rating engines to accurately rate and quote new business accounts.
- Submitting business to brokerage markets when necessary and collaborating with carrier underwriters to determine pricing, coverage, and risk acceptability.
- Acting as a liaison between carriers and retail agents, gathering required information and ensuring timely policy issuance.
- Managing endorsement requests and tracking applications and payments for placed business.
- Reviewing inspection recommendations and discrepancies to maintain underwriting integrity.
- Communicating effectively with both internal and external customers to uphold our standards of excellence.
- Assisting retail agents with inquiries during the quoting process and after placement.
- Maintaining professional relationships with internal staff, retail agents, and company underwriters.
- Participating in online chat programs, weekly staff meetings, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Experience in E&S underwriting
- Insurance license preferred or the ability to obtain one
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer knowledge, including email and Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn custom programs and partner systems
