CLINICAL PHARMACIST

SITE OF SERVICE

·       Naval Hospital Bremerton, WA

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

·        Degree/Education:

o   A Baccalaureate Degree in Pharmacy from a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)

OR

o  A Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) from a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

·        Certification: Must maintain a hands-on BLS certification through AHA or ARC

·        Residency:   Completion of a clinical pharmacy residency or fellowship accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists or American College of Clinical Pharmacy or documentation of appropriate education, training, and/or CME in the practice of clinical pharmacy

·        Experience: Possess experience as a pharmacist in a facility for at least 12 months within the preceding 36 months.

·        Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a pharmacist.

·        U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.

·       Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.

Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

·       Work closely with clinical staff in developing patient wellness programs such as smoking cessation programs and asthma classes.

·       Provide medication information to the clinical staff as required, including in-service training on new medications on the market; appropriate use of medications; comparison of current medication therapies; and other topics as deemed appropriate by the department head.

·       Provide clinical direction of corpsmen and pharmacy technicians and provide input into job performance evaluations.

·       Maintain inventory control of all pharmaceuticals in the pharmacy, especially scheduled pharmaceuticals, and ensure pharmacy security. Maintain appropriate records and security of all scheduled controlled substances according to applicable regulations.

·       Consult with other specialty practitioners who have been referred for pharmaceutical services.

·       Execute drug utilization reviews (DURs) as deemed necessary.

·       Utilize pharmacy computer and robotic systems in accordance with MTF protocols.

HOURS:

·       The HCWs shall provide services Sunday through Saturday, including the day of observance of Federal holidays between the hours of 0700 and 0659.  

BASE DOWN DAYS:

·       During a planned closure of the facility due to training, closures before or after holidays family down days, Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours worked. If clinic is closed and employee is not able to work, employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty). 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
