Position: Medical Assistant - Healthguide
Location: Remote with occasional travel to client locations (10% max).
Note: We are accepting applications only from candidates who reside or plan to reside within a 90-minute drive of Houston, TX.
About the Role:
As a Medical Assistant - Healthguide, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between patients and their healthcare providers. You'll work remotely, supported by a dedicated clinical team, to enhance patient care, resolve healthcare issues, and foster better communication with medical practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with medical practice staff and case management teams to support a targeted patient population.
Function independently while remaining a key team member, extending the reach of medical practices.
Assist patients in managing their health by addressing questions, connecting them with resources, and implementing care plans.
Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Understand and navigate the referral and prior authorization processes.
Build and maintain professional relationships with medical practices and internal teams.
Meet Key Performance Indicators to improve patient health outcomes and reduce medical costs.
Use various communication methods (calls, texts, emails) to engage with patients.
Escalate medical issues appropriately to registered nurses, physicians, or leadership.
Travel occasionally to primary care physician offices.
Adhere to security policies to protect patient information and organizational data.
What We're Looking For:
Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
A passion for patient coordination, especially for individuals with complex needs.
Empathy and proficiency in motivational interviewing and behavioral change management.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to document patient interactions accurately.
Knowledge of medical terminology and primary care functions.
Familiarity with social determinants of health.
Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
Experience with EHRs and various software programs.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a remote setting.

Compensation:
The hourly pay range for this position is between $20 to $23, based on factors such as experience, education, and location.
