Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement is a key member of the Alumni Engagement team who will work to increase alumni engagement at Dickinson through a variety of on and off-campus programs. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, the Associate Director works collaboratively with the division of College Advancement and partners across campus to engage alumni through affinity and identity networks and regional programs.

The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement will manage Dickinson's growing affinity and identity networks. These programs represent a diverse network of Dickinson alumni who connect with the college through shared identity, student experiences or other cohorts. This individual will be responsible for identifying, recruiting and stewarding alumni volunteers through a variety of established and new Dickinson programs. The Associate Director will represent Dickinson to the alumni community and seek opportunities to connect alumni with each other, with students and with the college. This individual will work closely with campus partners, established alumni groups and newly forming alumni groups to increase overall alumni engagement and deepen philanthropic support for Dickinson.

The associate director will also develop cultural, academic and social programs in select regions. These goal-oriented programs will utilize alumni volunteers, engage alumni throughout different life stages and levels of engagement, and will strive to highlight Dickinson's strategic priorities.

Alumni Engagement is part of the division of College Advancement, and works to increase alumni engagement and philanthropic support of Dickinson College from our 26,000 alumni. Occasional nights, weekends and regional travel required.

Essential Functions:

  • Grow Dickinson's affinity and identity alumni networks through volunteer engagement, programming, communications and philanthropy. Build strong relationships with volunteers to plan milestone reunions, annual events and set philanthropic goals for groups including but not limited to Greek Life organizations, global studies programs, student groups, the Black and African American Alumni Association of Dickinson College, the Latinx Alumni Network and the LGBTQ+ Alumni Network.
  • Develop regional programs to promote Dickinson's priorities and build engagement of alumni and parents of the college off-campus. Engage alumni within these regions to build engagement and create new opportunities within the regions. Occasional nights, weekends and regional travel required.
  • Identify, recruit, train, track and steward alumni volunteers in collaboration with colleagues in College Advancement and campus partners. Identify volunteers for one-off opportunities and new roles as needed.
  • Create on campus, off campus and virtual programs that showcase Dickinson alumni, faculty and staff and instill a sense of loyalty and responsibility for the college. Programs are strategically and creatively developed to increase overall alumni engagement, capture alumni across life stages, create new engagement, deepen existing engagement and raise awareness of and interest about Dickinson's philanthropic priorities. Build strong partnerships with colleagues and campus partners to achieve these goals.
  • Serve as a liaison to a committee of the Alumni Council, Dickinson's leadership group of volunteers.
  • Support major Alumni Engagement programs and initiatives, including Homecoming & Family Weekend, Alumni Weekend, Alumni Council meetings and other milestone events.
