About the Department
The Warehouse Operations & Event Logistics department is responsible for the logistical planning and delivery of all equipment, signage and supplies for all NYRR Adult Events, Youth Events and Community Programs. Our Event Development and Production team develops and produces NYRR events from concept all the way through execution in a way that fulfills NYRR’s mission. NYRR produces 56 races per year, in addition to the TCS New York City Marathon, and additional events within each race. The events team is responsible for physical site management, volunteer management, hospitality and special events, and managing our Warehouse and all race collateral.
About the Position
The Warehouse Event Logistics Lead position is responsible for all logistical components and execution of small- to medium-scale New York Road Runners Youth and Community events per year, each serving 100-1000 or more participants, including those associated with the five Borough Series, and the TCS New York City Marathon. In addition, the emphasis of this role is to help and support internal teams; and external NYC 5-Boroughs in-need communities, community organizations and agencies through our NYRR Mobile Unit efforts. This position will report to the Director, Warehouse Event Logistics, with the core responsibilities of supporting all Rising NYRR, Track and Field series, school-day events, special events, and community - adults and youth - efforts.
Job Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director, Warehouse Event Logistics, review logistics and support day-of operations of 15 – 20 small/medium size, school-day, community and special events as part of the warehouse events team.
Loading and delivering NYRR inventory to race sites as well as distributing and installing all race day equipment. ON conclusion of event, retrieving all issued inventory, ensuring all items are accounted for, and returning them to NYRR Warehouse for unloading.
Light maintenance of race equipment when necessary. Experience w/ bicycle repairs desired.
Inform team of any/all needed equipment upgrades, repairs, and/or purchases.
Maintain inventory integrity of all equipment & supplies at event sites.
Support the Community Program teams in their participation in adult events, community walks, and other community events efforts through technical support, equipment, and NYRR Mobile Unit efforts.
Work closely with the Youth Programs team in the development, execution, and expansion of school-day program-only Rising NYRR events.
Work with the volunteer team and provide support for all youth & community events.
Ensure NYRR Mobile Unit driver support is assigned to every event and all equipment needed is packed.
Work alongside signage team; keep track and inventory all the community event assets owned by the organization.
Work on specific projects assigned to support the development, expansion and participant’s experience of assigned Youth and Community events.
Effectively and efficiently plan and prioritize all projects and events assigned to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner and deadlines are met.
In support of the rest of youth events, ED&P, and other departments, attend scheduled youth events, adult events, and some training sessions (as needed) on weekdays, weeknights and weekends.
Other duties and department projects, as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Experience:
3+ years of warehouse/outdoor event experience
Ability to operate forklift, pallet jack and other types of MHE
Prior experience driving a van or small truck throughout NYC
Experience supervising small group of staff preferred
Event background a plus, preferably in the sports and/or entertainment industries
Strong logistical/operational and customer service background
Education & Certifications:
College degree preferred
Forklift certification preferred
Driver’s license required
Skills and Attributes:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, Outlook)
Strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Other Requirements:
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or willingness to learn (preferred)
Willingness to travel, work various weekends and extended hours, as needed
Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
Bilingual a plus
Salary: 72K
