Job Title: Unarmed Uniformed Security Officer
Job Type: Full-Time

Duties:

• Patrol the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) premises in uniform, adhering to designated routes and schedules to ensure the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors.
• Enforce access control by verifying identification, keycards, and badges at entry points, ensuring compliance with established facility check-in procedures.
• Act as the first point of contact in emergencies, providing guidance, assisting with evacuations or lockdowns, and maintaining communication with VA Police and other responders.
• Conduct regular security inspections of the facility, including restricted and high-traffic areas, to detect and report potential safety hazards or unauthorized activities.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate daily activity logs, documenting patrol rounds, visitor interactions, and any unusual occurrences.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
• Must be 18 years of age or older and meet Missouri state security licensing requirements.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to respond calmly and professionally to emergencies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with staff, visitors, and law enforcement personnel.
• Physical fitness to perform job duties, including standing and walking for extended periods and responding quickly to incidents.
• Completion of any required security training or certifications, such as CPR/First Aid.
