Position Overview:
You will play a crucial role in supporting students with exceptionalities, ensuring they receive the tailored educational support they need to succeed. You will oversee the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), coordinate special education services, and work closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to foster inclusive learning environments that cater to the diverse needs of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct, organize, and implement disability services in compliance with regulations.
Ensure that each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is met and all required services are provided.
Monitor and assist with the screening and assessment of students.
Facilitate and coordinate IEP meetings with service providers, teachers, parents, and other campus staff.
Hire, train, schedule, and track payroll for paraprofessionals.
Supervise Special Education Teachers and support staff.
Attend district meetings and communicate effectively with families.
Collaborate with the Director and Principal to address the needs of students.
Act as a resource for the school community.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrate a broad understanding of the curriculum and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
Assist in aligning curricula with relevant content standards.
Promote high academic standards and participate in ongoing professional development.
Show proficiency in using technology to support educational goals.
Job Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Work involves classroom and playground environments.
Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Stand, walk, and communicate with children at their eye level, which may involve squatting or sitting on the ground.
Occasionally handle field trip, classroom, book, or fundraising money.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
Colorado 5-21 Special Education Teacher License required.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proactive problem solver with a collaborative mindset.
Commitment to educational equity and belief in the potential of all students.
Ability to handle stress effectively and work under pressure.
Experience:
At least 1 year of experience in a Special Education role.
Special Knowledge and Training:
Special Education Endorsement or License preferred.
Knowledge of Special Education Law and Policies.
Valid Colorado Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
