Scoop Truck Operator

Location: Knoxville, TN

Pay: $20/hr minimum (includes base + tips)

Schedule: 25–40 hours/week (seasonal fluctuations)

Reports to: Mobile Fleet Manager

Irvey’s Ice Cream Co. is looking for a dependable, high-energy Scoop Truck Operator to independently run our mobile ice cream truck. You’ll be responsible for everything from driving and setup to customer service and cleanup — all while delivering the kind of feel-good experience we’re known for.

Responsibilities

Truck Operation

• Operate a 15’ ice cream truck safely and responsibly
• Arrive early and on time for all scheduled shifts
• Navigate event setups, street parking, and post-service breakdown
• Communicate with the Mobile Fleet Manager about any equipment or scheduling issues
• Return the truck clean, fully stocked, and fueled after each shift

Service & Customer Experience

• Serve customers quickly and kindly, even in high-volume environments
• Maintain Irvey’s vibe — friendly, upbeat, and professional
• Handle cash with integrity (this is a cash business — theft = dismissal)
• Ensure product quality and portion control every shift
• Upsell effectively and represent our brand with pride

Cleaning & Maintenance

• Maintain a clean, food-safe environment inside the truck
• Perform light equipment cleaning: dipping cabinets, generator, etc.
• Restock perishables, paper goods, and supplies daily
• Keep up with basic truck maintenance and regular washes
• Follow daily and weekly cleaning checklists

✅ Requirements

• Clean driving record and ability to drive a 15’ box truck
• Pass a background check and drug test
• Must have a REAL ID or be able to obtain one before employment
• Availability for day, night, and weekend shifts — including long days
• Comfortable working solo and managing time effectively
• Able to lift and move supplies and equipment (ice cream, tanks, coolers, etc.)
• Must stay hydrated and focused during high-heat shifts
• No call/no show = immediate termination
• High integrity and ability to follow safety and cash handling protocols
