Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025. NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego internships provide students with real world experience and exposure to working in the television news industry. Internships at NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 are paid. Course credit is optional. Responsibilities: As a News Intern for our station, you will work 15 hours per week and gain the following experience: Writing/Story Producing: + Assist with script writing and translating for broadcast + Create graphics for broadcast + Log sound bites Editing: + Edit videos for linear and digital Digital: + Contribute to NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 digital content and social media accounts. + Write and translate scripts for digital + Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel) + Must be bilingual English/Spanish both written and verbal with excellent grammar Desired Characteristics: + AP style writing + Write and translate scripts for digital + AP style writing + Desktop video editing + PhotoShop editing + Interactive graphic development + Use of content management system for digital publication + Eager to learn + Team player with a positive approach to work + Self-motivated + Strong work ethic + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Eligibility Requirements: + In pursuit of an associate, bachelor's, or graduate degree at an accredited institution. Must be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress. + Current class standing of junior or above Required On-Site: This position is 15 hours per week and required to be performed from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite. The pay rate for this position is $17.25 per hour.
