Job Description and Duties

Under general direction of the Staff Services Manager III in the Evaluation & Data Innovation Branch, within the Research, Evaluation and Data Insights (REDI) Division, the incumbent will be one of the most senior positions in the branch. Research Data Specialist III (RDS III) will work independently to 1) provide expert guidance on specialized and complex areas related to the development of web-based power applications and 2) serves as the primary lead in application development and data automation for DSH’s population. The incumbent will develop strategies for seamless data integration for application development efforts including, but not limited to, the Electronic Health Record(EHR) System. The RDS III serves as both a senior DSH data subject matter expert in web-based power applications and workgroup facilitation.

Education

Incumbents must possess 12 semester or 18 quarter units course work in any combination of a data driven research-related field, such as economics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, demography, geography, anthropology, statistics, data science or a research-related field. This must include at least one course in statistical methods;  and

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree. Work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis by applicants who have the required units mentioned above.

This limited term position may be extended up to 24 months and has the possibility of becoming permanent.

Working Conditions

• DSH-Sacramento is located at an 11-floor high rise building.
• This position reports to the Allenby Building in Sacramento. A hybrid Telework schedule, consistent with the State of California's in-office requirement, may be considered with prior approval from management. The incumbent may also be required to travel throughout California as needed, with prior notice.
• Minimal travel (5%) may be required. This position will require a background check via Cal DOJ Live Scan to fulfill the responsibilities of the job.
• Use of technology, including but not limited to Cisco Jabber, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Zoom and other virtual platforms is required.

• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

• The incumbent must have the ability to work independently, must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, as well as engage with a variety of stakeholders (including clinical, operational, and executive) utilizing impeccable interpersonal and communication skills.
• Additionally, strong leadership and team collaboration skills are required for this position.
