Position: Police Officer
The Newberg-Dundee Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Police Officer. The hiring process will remain open until the position is filled.
Salary and Benefits
Starting Annual Salary: $74,000

Qualifications
Age: Minimum 21 years old.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Driver's License: Valid driver's license required.
Vision and Hearing: Must meet DPSST requirements as detailed in Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs).
Academy Certification: Not required.
Experience: No prior law enforcement experience required.
Hiring Process
Verify minimum qualifications.
Achieve a passing score on the Frontline National Test (NTN).
Pass the ORPAT (physical abilities test) with a qualifying time.
Participate in an initial interview.
Undergo an administrative interview.
Complete a full background investigation.
Receive a conditional offer of employment.
Pass physical and psychological exams.
Disqualifiers
Criminal Activity:
Felony convictions or misdemeanors involving domestic violence, sex crimes, fraud, or moral turpitude.
Convictions for major traffic offenses, DUII diversion, or alcohol-related offenses within specific timeframes.
Illegal drug use, possession, or sales within the past 10 years; marijuana use within the last two years.
Driving History:
Major traffic offenses or DUII within the past five years.
Multiple traffic violations, including careless driving or license suspensions, within the last three years.
Employment History:
Disciplinary actions for insubordination or failure to follow policies.
Multiple involuntary terminations (excluding layoffs).
Inability to maintain long-term employment relationships.
Financial History:
Unresolved legal judgments, garnishments, or repeated bankruptcies indicating financial instability.
Military Discharge:
Classified as Other Than Honorable, Bad Conduct, or Dishonorable.
Moral Fitness:
Failure to demonstrate good moral fitness as determined by a thorough background investigation.
