$5,224.34 - $6,681.52 (plus applicable premium pay)

Work Schedule:
Four-day work week, ten-hour shifts

Job Summary:
The Monmouth Police Department is seeking highly motivated and committed individuals with strong communication and interpersonal skills to join the team as a Police Officer. This position involves a variety of law enforcement duties, including responding to incidents, patrolling assigned areas, enforcing laws and ordinances, making arrests, preserving evidence, writing reports, testifying in court, and working with the community.

How to Apply:

Complete the National Testing Network (NTN) Frontline test and select Monmouth Police Department as an agency to receive your score. Certified lateral applicants within Oregon or out-of-state certified applicants with a four-year degree do not need to complete the Frontline test. All applicants must pass the ORPAT physical test before receiving a conditional job offer.

Salary Information:
Step 1: $5,224.34
Step 6: $6,681.52
Premium Pay (up to 15%):
Education: 2.5% for Associate's Degree, 5% for Bachelor's Degree
Certification: 3.5% for Intermediate, 7% for Advanced
Longevity: 2% for 10 years, 5% for 15 years, 7% for 20 years of service
Bilingual: 3% for fluency in Spanish
Field Training Officer (FTO): 5%
Detective: 4%
Physical Fitness: 1.5%

Department Overview:
The Monmouth Police Department consists of up to 16 sworn officers, a Records Supervisor, Records Clerk/Evidence Technician, a Community Service Officer, and up to six Reserve Officers. The department is led by the Chief of Police, a Lieutenant, and four Sergeants who supervise patrol, investigations, and special projects. The department maintains a strong focus on patrol, crime prevention, and investigations, with two officers assigned to felony investigations and serving as members of the Polk County Major Crimes Team.

Monmouth is located in the Willamette Valley, Oregon's wine country, with a population of over 11,000. It is home to Western Oregon University and is centrally located within an hour's drive of the Oregon Coast and mountain ranges. Monmouth maintains a small-town feel while being close to major cities like Salem and Portland.

Job Requirements:
Age: 21 years old
US Citizen: Must be able to obtain citizenship within 18 months of employment, per Oregon law
High School Grad/GED: Required
Driver's License: Must have a valid Oregon driver's license or be able to obtain one, with an acceptable driving history
Vision: 20/30 corrected vision, ability to distinguish colors per DPSST standards
Preferred Qualifications: Two- or four-year degree, DPSST Academy certification, bilingual in Spanish/English
Disqualifiers:
Felony conviction
DUII arrests within the past 10 years
Repetitive or continual drug use
Dishonesty or conviction of theft
Negative military separation review
Decertification as a police officer
Any crime of violence, including domestic violence
Hiring Process:
Candidates must pass all written, physical, oral, background, medical, and psychological exams.
