General Description and Qualifications
Apply for the Grove City Police Officer position directly through the City of Grove City's website.
Sign up for the National Testing Network (NTN) Law Enforcement Exam and ensure your NTN score results are applied to Grove City.
Your Grove City application and NTN testing must be completed by October 13, 2024, and your scores must be applied to Grove City. The online PRADCO assessment must be completed by October 29, 2024. Candidates passing the NTN must be available for the physical test on October 26 and 27, 2024. In the case of inclement weather, physical testing will be conducted on November 2 and/or November 3, 2024.
You must be 20 years of age or older at the time of application and under 35 years of age at the time of appointment (December 17, 2024), unless you have previous law enforcement experience.
The top 75 qualified candidates based on NTN scores will be invited to the physical test. Scores from the NTN exam will be calculated based on the pool of candidates who apply with Grove City, with no specific composite score required to determine passing.

Residency: Must reside within a 60-mile radius of police headquarters within six months of employment.
Necessary Certifications
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A college degree is preferred but not required. Candidates must successfully pass the written NTN exam, the PRADCO review, and a physical fitness test. A thorough background investigation, including a truth verification test, drug test, and psychological and medical evaluations, will also be conducted.
Background Removal Standards
The review of disqualifying behavior begins from the date of application. Any waiver for disqualification may be considered by the Chief of Police depending on the situation. Examples of disqualifying behaviors include:
Providing false or inconsistent information during the selection process.
Failure to disclose disqualifying behavior or failure to respond to questions during the selection process.
Convictions related to domestic violence, misdemeanor crimes, or non-compliance with court orders.
Employment history with multiple involuntary terminations.
Military discharges of dishonorable or bad conduct.
Serious traffic offenses or convictions related to OVI.
Illegal drug use or abuse of controlled substances.
Criminal activities such as theft, insurance fraud, or felonies.
Physical Standards and Testing
All successful candidates must pass a physical fitness assessment to determine readiness for the Police Academy or field training program. Additionally, the City prohibits offensive tattoos, extremist content, and certain types of visible body art while in uniform.
Working Conditions
Officers will be exposed to hazardous environments, dangerous situations, and potentially violent individuals. Officers must maintain physical fitness and be able to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Standard equipment used includes firearms, police radios, and other law enforcement tools.
Minimum Acceptable Characteristics
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of investigation techniques, arrest procedures, evidence collection, and local, state, and federal laws. They must also have the ability to communicate effectively, prepare accurate documentation, and maintain effective relationships with the community.
