Job Description

Job Overview:

The Phlebotomist obtains blood specimens from patients as ordered by the licensed healthcare provider, labels the specimen appropriately and distributes to the laboratory department for testing.

Qualifications:

Required:

• HS Diploma

Preferred:

• Phlebotomy Certification
• At least one year of direct experience in a healthcare environment

Scheduling Requirements:

• Per Diem
• Night Shift

Essential Functions:

• Knowledgeable in aspects of the pre-analytical phase of laboratory testing including specimen rejection criteria
• Maintains the inventory of supplies required for specimen collection and disposes specimen collection needles and supplies safely
• Assists laboratory technologists and clerical staff, and also utilizes multiple computer systems in the performance of phlebotomy
