Summary of Position

The Nursing Faculty is a full-time, 9-month/166-day position. The faculty member is responsible for teaching 15 credits each fall and spring semester. Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery methods, including face-to-face, online, computer-aided, distance learning, self-paced, and interdisciplinary. Faculty may need to teach at any RRCC campus and at a variety of times (days, evenings, and some weekends).

The faculty member develops and evaluates curricula, ensures alignment with community needs and regulatory requirements, documents curriculum changes based on assessments, implements retention strategies, and integrates technology into coursework. Additional responsibilities involve maintaining office hours, assisting with departmental duties, providing academic advising to students, participating in college events, serving on committees, and representing the college in the community. Professional development is a key component of the role, with opportunities for growth to support both teaching and service functions aligned with the college's goals.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in nursing from a national nursing accredited institution, or if in progress, conferred prior to the start date.
  • Two years of full-time, or equivalent, professional nursing clinical experience.
  • Nursing practice expertise in any of the following areas: Medical/Surgical nursing or Mental Health nursing.
  • An active, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado or ability to obtain by the date of hire.
  • Qualify for a Colorado Career and Technical Education (CTE) credential including 4,000 paid non-teaching occupational hours within the past five years.
    • **Current teachers applying to teach RRCC campus-based, online, or concurrent enrollment CTE courses may include non-teaching occupational hours that are older than the 5-year requirement if they have the required degree (and license/certifications as listed) and a minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience in the discipline/program or 6 years part-time teaching experience in the discipline/program.
  • Experience teaching and/or training various subjects within the discipline.

  • A minimum of 2 years teaching experience in an accredited nursing program or equivalent.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • This role includes both the cognitively demanding work of teaching, curriculum development, student mentorship, and academic responsibilities, and the physically demanding work associated with clinical instruction.
  • Clinical instruction may require extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, positioning, reaching, bending, and assisting with patient care tasks in hospital or clinical environments.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports office equipment, nursing lab equipment, and instructional materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • This position requires active use of nursing lab equipment and supplies. This position also includes office-based responsibilities and may be sedentary at times. It requires regular computer use and routine operation of standard office equipment.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with students, faculty, clinical partners, and other constituents and must be able to exchange accurate information in these settings.
  • Cognitive demands include strong critical thinking, problem solving, communication, organization, academic planning, curriculum development, coordinating, synthesizing, analyzing information, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000, commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 166 contract days. The projected start date for this position is August 1, 2026. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. Faculty may have the option to teach additional course overloads in accordance with college policies and procedures for additional compensation.
