Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description We are seeking a proactive Manufacturing Engineer to provide project management and engineering support for plant projects and minor launch activities. This role involves creating and maintaining project status tracking decks and collaborating with plant engineers and teams to ensure timely project implementation. Additionally, you will assist with critical path project items, set up and support review meetings, and contribute ideas for process improvements. Responsibilities + Provide project management and basic engineering support for plant projects and minor launch activities. + Create and maintain project status tracking decks with plant engineers/teams. + Assist in following up on open issues for critical path project items to keep on schedule. + Plan implementations with vendors, production, maintenance, and other departments. + Prepare workstation readiness items and manage Quality/PPAP/PSW items. + Set up and support review meetings. + Share ideas for improving project plans and processes. + Support the cost study response process, including gathering vendor quotes and installation cost estimates. + Work with Industrial Engineers to assess manpower and capacity impacts. + Help organize response packages for review with plant leadership and others. + Assist with asset tracking and verification, as well as Brass Tag tracking and reporting. + Provide support for engineering MTC (Manage the Change) processes. + Engage with innovation team activities such as 3D printing, data analytics, AI vision systems, digitalization, advanced robotics, and AGV/AMR projects. + Assist with GSPAS/VPS (process writing) tasks as needed. Essential Skills + Project management and launch program experience. + Vendor management experience. + Assertive approach to managing engineering projects. + Knowledge of automotive production processes, assembly, and machining. + Ability to collaborate with engineers, production management, vendors, and UAW representatives. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with AutoCAD for facility layout work. + Costing and quoting experience, particularly for evaluating changes and mapping impacts. + Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, and continuous improvement. Work Environment The role requires 40 base working hours per week, primarily on the day shift. Minimal travel is expected, with some local travel to visit vendors. Any necessary travel arrangements will be coordinated in advance. The work environment supports a collaborative culture focused on innovation and efficiency. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Sterling Heights, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $42.30 - $46.53/hr.
