Maintenance Supervisor

Covington, GA

Essential Responsibility: This position is responsible for the supervising and facilitating the maintenance department in respect to the repair, inspection, installation and general maintenance of the production equipment. This position will work closely with manufacturing. Key Tasks :
  • Supervises Maintenance Functions by monitoring all manufacturing related equipment and machine molds; by managing all new and replacement machine parts; by inspecting and controlling pollution prevention equipment including corresponding with appropriate governmental agencies as necessary; by improving production efficiency in cooperation with the manufacturing department; by leading staff in troubleshooting all problems in a timely manner to ensure smooth operations; and by completing special projects as requested.
  • Implements Procedures by assisting in the development of preventative maintenance programs; by interpreting and enforcing Company policies and procedures, and answering related questions for Staff; by implementing new procedures to improve operations, minimize operating costs; and ensure the efficient use of resources; and by recommending improvements to procedures as necessary.
  • Supervises Staff by providing direction and delegating responsibilities to subordinate Staff; by evaluating work performed by subordinate Staff; by training Staff when necessary; by providing subordinate Staff with regular feedback; by conducting Performance Appraisals; and by contributing to employment decisions (i.e. promotions, salary adjustments, termination, etc.).
  • Keeps Management Informed by participating in meetings; and by reporting problems to Management verbally or in writing in order to avoid confusion and further problems.
  • Performs General Administrative Duties by writing and distributing reports and other correspondence; by distributing mail and faxes when necessary; by accurately filing and maintaining documents; by making copies; and by performing other administrative duties as needed.
  • Upholds Standards of Quality, Cost, and Safety by following the Company's standards and guidelines for maintaining quality, cost, and safety; by taking initiative to make these points top priority at the Company; by immediately reporting any conditions that do not uphold the standards of quality, cost, and safety to the Supervisor or Management; and by making suggestions for necessary improvements to uphold these standards as necessary.
  • Contributes to the Team Effort by consistently achieving individual goals in order to contribute to the achievement of departmental and Company goals; by being flexible in work assignments; by covering for other Staff as needed; by accomplishing related tasks when requested; by being open to feedback from peers, Supervisors, and Management; and by using the feedback to improve performance.
  • Maintains Professional and Technical Knowledge by attaining job-related certification as necessary; by seeking out job-related training in order to improve personal skills, as well as efficiency and knowledge in the workplace; and by applying that knowledge to the job.
  • Upholds Professionalism in the Workplace by maintaining professional conduct and appearance; by realizing one's own limitations and seeking assistance when needed; and by using established communication channels.
Education / Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED associate's degree preferred
  • 5 years of general maintenance or mechanical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Must have knowledge of machine shop equipment (i.e. lathes, vertical mills, presses, welder).
  • Must have knowledge of pollution equipment.
  • Must have basic knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic fluid power systems, and electrical technology.
  • Must have knowledge to repair / build tooling and associated parts.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of relay logic, ladder diagrams, programmable logic controllers, and AC/DC power circuits.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk, in office or field duties.
  • A full range of motion to see, hear, touch, and to observe documents at the office or materials on the field.
  • Ordinary vision and hearing for communication and observation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
