Members of the Finance organization at select locations will generally be expected to follow a hybrid work model, which includes two days of in-office attendance each week, with limited exceptions.

What You'll Do

The Global Customs and Trade Analyst is a front & back-office role. The candidate will closely partner with Cisco’s Global Tax & Customs Team and various corporate compliance functions and business units to ensure swift management of Trade Compliance information needed to expedite real time trade transactions for Cisco’s internal and external shipments.

A Global Customs Analyst is responsible for leading and optimizing a company's customs operations across various international markets. This role involves liaising closely with internal teams, such as Business Units, Logistics, Legal, and Finance, as well as with external partners, including customs brokers, freight forwarders, and governmental authorities. The analyst ensures compliance with international trade regulations, working to mitigate customs risks that could lead to delays, fines, or other penalties. They analyze and review customs documentation, such as import/export declarations and shipping documents, to ensure accuracy and consistency to relevant regulations and internal policies. By identifying areas for improvement in customs processes, the analyst helps to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency.

The position is also focused around leading the performance of customs brokers and ensuring consistency of their services to the regulations and contractual obligations. Responsibilities:

  • Receive and solve written requests to update, revise or modify Trade Compliance-related data on shipping documentation via a case management system.

  • Supervise and maintain internal database of reference tables to handle exceptions and requirements for shipping documentation.

  • Lead Customs Compliance Reviews, measuring broker performance and analysis of compliance levels.

  • Support customs brokers in the importation of shipments including, but not limited to, core customs compliance elements, Partner Government Agencies (PGAs), Census warning, weights.

  • Analyze correctness and compliance of Cisco shipping documentation.

  • Collaborate with Technical Support Teams on technical issues, system enhancements.

  • Participate in recurring customs brokerage trade compliance assessments.

  • Create, design, enhance, maintain and deliver reporting and metrics.

  • Perform data analysis and data mining activities to support decision making around Trade Compliance.

  • Host weekly meetings with Customs broker partners to resolve open cases.

  • Liaise with internal partners to coordinate information and data in preparation for Customs broker performance reviews, including follow-up and critical issues when needed.

  • Maintain global brokerage and power of attorney dashboards by collecting timely updates from Cisco business units.

Who You Are

The Cisco Global Customs team is responsible for running Cisco's customs compliance and related trade activities. This includes being responsible for compliance around the importation of international cross-border shipments, identifying and assessing global risks, developing best-in-class customs tools, and working optimally with internal business partners to develop end-to-end processes and solutions. We are geographically organized with teams covering the Americas (USA, Latin America & Canada), Asia Pacific, Japan & China (APJC), and Emerging Markets East and European markets (EMEA) theatre, as well as vertically specialized with teams covering key trade related policies and processes such as Valuation, Origin, Classification, Risk and Audit.

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Trade, Customs, Export, Logistics or Vendor Management.

  • Understanding of trade compliance areas including import processes, country of origin, valuation, classification, shipping documentation.

  • Ability to identify issues and connect with internal business partners.

  • Experience in dealing with multiple and global business functions.

  • Proven dedication to growth and development of skills.

  • Analytical, research and data mining skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient in English.

  • Strong collaboration and business partnership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent experience in finance, international trade, logistics, or supply chain management is helpful
