Position: Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic
Overview
The Streetsboro Fire Department is establishing an eligibility list for the role of Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic in anticipation of upcoming openings. Candidates must meet the qualifications listed below and will be contacted for further stages of the selection process once a passing score is achieved on the National Testing Network (NTN) exam.
Requirements and Qualifications
Age: Minimum of 21 years at the time of appointment
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
Education: High school diploma or GED
Driver's License: Valid driver's license required
Certifications:
Current Ohio Firefighter II certification (or at the time of appointment)
Current Ohio Paramedic certification (or at the time of appointment)
Current Physical Agility Test certification from Cuyahoga Community College, completed within the last six months with a time of five minutes or less (or at the time of appointment)
Additional Requirement: Must obtain Ohio Fire Safety Inspector Certification upon employment
Candidates who meet the requirements and score a passing grade on the NTN entry-level exam will be placed on the eligibility list.
Additional Credits
Candidates who achieve a passing NTN score may qualify for additional credit, not exceeding 20% of the passing score:
Education Credit: 5% for an Associate's Degree in a related field or 10% for a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution (proof required with the application)
Military Service Credit: 20% for honorably discharged veterans (submit form DD-214 with the application)
Current City Employees: 20% credit for part-time Streetsboro firefighters with 18 months of service and a clean discipline record

Department Information
The Streetsboro Fire Department serves Northeast Ohio's Portage County, covering a 25-square-mile area with a population of 17,100. As a progressive department focused on safety, training, and customer service, the team consists of both full-time and part-time personnel, including a full-time Chief, Shift Captains, Lieutenants, and Fire Prevention Officers. The department emphasizes service, integrity, professionalism, and compassion, with opportunities for staff to engage in areas such as fire prevention, technical rescue, water rescue, hazmat, fire and EMS instruction, and participation on county-wide teams.
Job Description
Position: Firefighter/Paramedic
Duties:
Provide emergency response services for fire, medical, hazmat, and technical rescue situations
Perform routine maintenance of fire station property and equipment
Participate in training and readiness activities
Subject to call-in during emergencies
Essential Job Requirements:
Language Skills: Proficiency in reading and speaking English
Physical Fitness: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks
Certifications: Valid Ohio Paramedic and Firefighter II certifications, current agility test from Cuyahoga Community College
