Overview :
Reed Charters LLC is actively seeking a
Fire Protection Engineer for a contingent opportunity supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. You will play a crucial role in supporting a Program Management Office that will support the review and assessments of the customer’s Installation Protection (IP) Programs and associated capabilities via Policy Compliance Assessments, Program Management Assessments, Fire Protection and Engineering Surveys, and Mission Assurance Assessments in accordance with DoD, Service-specific policies, procedures, standards, and benchmarks. These assessments will be conducted on 25 bases and stations.
Work Location The Fire Protection Engineer will be located in the
Washington DC Metro Area. Occasional travel (30%) and client site support may be required.
Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Conduct triennial assessments of IP Capability Portfolio programs and capabilities, develop comprehensive assessment reports that contain findings and recommendations for improvement, and make recommendations for the enhancement of the customer’s implementation of IP Capability Portfolio programs and capabilities at all levels of command.
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate, conduct, and close-out each assessment in conjunction with adjacent and subordinate commands, as required.
- Perform apparatus procurement tasks, to include developing a fire apparatus replacement plan for vehicle procurement, developing, and updating fire apparatus specifications for vehicles, reviewing bid solicitations from vendors using General Services Administration and Defense Logistics Agency procurement for technical compliance, conduct preconstruction meetings and final inspections at vendor locations for vehicles acquired during a specific fiscal year period, and assist installations with post delivery vehicle and warranty issues. Work with other service branches to develop common specifications for response vehicles.
- Review and update Mission Assurance Assessment Team (MAAT) Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) benchmarks, as well as write the F&ES portion of the MAAT Report for each installation.
- Provide Fire Protection and Engineering Surveys and develop applicable Plans of Action and Milestones.
- Provide conference planning and meeting support. This will include pre-event planning, on-site coordination, and post-event activities for designated government, and inter-agency conferences, symposia, and workshops.
- Pre-event planning will include, but is not limited to, approval packages, site selection and setup, development and distribution of announcements, creation of agenda and support material, and registration.
- On-site coordination will include, but is not limited to, attendee check-in, security problem resolution, document control, and administrative and logistics coordination with the host facility.
- Post-event efforts will include, but is not limited to, developing, and distributing conference/meeting proceedings and generation of an After-Action Report following each event.
- Conduct reviews and propose updates to applicable orders, directives and policies governing assurance programs.
- Assist the branch in task management by utilizing the Enterprise Task Management Software Solution and Automated Message Handling System.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience We Require: - Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree and 10 years of experience in mission assurance planning or a related field.
- Proficient with software applications hosted in multiple program environments, (i.e., Windows, Oracle, and Citrix) and Microsoft 365.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in team environments.
- Exceptional organizational, planning, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
