Description: Position Summary To maintain the existing campus grounds, install new landscape design, maintain athletic fields and remove snow and ice. The position reports to the Grounds Gardener who in turns reports to the Grounds Foreman.
Duties & Responsibilities - Daily cleaning of parking garages and surface lots. This includes sweeping stairs, ramps, and curbs to remove trash and debris, emptying trash containers, and collecting rubbish left in lots and around trash/recycling receptacles.
- Care for hedges which includes properly pruning for correct shape and unwanted growth. Care also includes removal of litter and other debris accumulated in the trees and hedges.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, stairs, ramps, decks and disabled parking spaces. Work on surface drainage by keeping storm drains and catch basins free of debris during heavy rain storms and ice in the winter months.
- Wash down sidewalks, parking surfaces, and stairways with pressure washing equipment.
- Care for trees and shrubs in parking lots. This includes planting, pruning, spraying, watering, cleaning shrub plantings, weeding, and preparing flower beds for seasonal plants.
- Care for lawns that includes irrigation, mowing with hand mowers, fertilizing, weed control, laying sod, sowing seed and preparing an area for seed or sod.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent.
