  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for CAI's IT infrastructure, cloud services, and user support to enhance efficiency and reliability. 
  • Lead the implementation of CAI enterprise-wide systems, backups, and disaster recovery plans, ensuring system stability and data integrity. 
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals, system administrators, and media technologists, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. 
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to coordinate environment provisioning and streamline shared tools for deployment. 
  • Oversee server hosting, security patches, performance monitoring, and IT governance to support the Center's critical learning platforms. 
  • Ensure compliance with privacy and data protection regulations (FERPA, GDPR) across all CAI technology platforms. 
  • Implement scalable and cost-effective cloud computing solutions to support the dynamic needs of CAI.
  • Manage and maintain specialized multimedia and XR production hardware, including media asset management solutions and networked studio configurations. 
  • Ensure Creative Studios has access to cutting-edge AV technology, video production tools, and XR capabilities to support content creation. 
  • Establish and oversee a Tier 1 and Tier 2 helpdesk function for faculty, staff, and learners to provide high-quality user support. 
  • Improve response times and ticketing workflows to enhance operational efficiency and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Define and enforce IT security policies and risk management strategies to protect CAI's digital assets and maintain compliance with university-wide IT policies. 
  • Regularly assess and implement cybersecurity best practices across the organization to mitigate vulnerabilities. 
  • Act as a key advisor to the CTO, providing insights on emerging technologies, infrastructure scaling, and IT best practices. 
  • Work closely with EdTech teams, Creative Studios, and Michigan Online Technology to align IT infrastructure with educational innovation priorities. 
  • Develop and manage budgets and technology investments, ensuring responsible allocation of resources for IT and media infrastructure. 
  • Represent CAI in university-wide initiatives and maintain relationships with external vendors and technology partners. 
  • Oversee the implementation of complex, multi-phase technology projects, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Media Technology, Computer Science) or equivalent experience. 
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in technology leadership, IT infrastructure, and media systems management. 
  • Hands-on experience with system integration, ensuring seamless operation between hardware and software systems. 
  • In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking protocols, server management, and cybersecurity best practices. 
  • Expertise in leading and developing technical teams, with a focus on mentoring, skill development, and promoting an environment of trust and autonomy. 
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service, with a focus on understanding and meeting the needs of all partners. 
  • Proven experience managing large-scale IT systems and enterprise-level technology infrastructure. 
  • Strong understanding of media production technologies, including studio operations, media asset management systems, and scalable workflows. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Additional Information 

The mode of work for this position is Hybrid. The work requirements for this position allow both onsite and offsite work and you will have an expected regular and recurring onsite presence. On occasion, you may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by our center's policy and domain leadership or by your job requirements.
