Position Mission

The Director of Digital Marketing leads FOCUS’ digital strategy and execution, overseeing the vision, planning, and performance of all digital marketing efforts across social media, email, web, advertising, and multimedia platforms. This role drives innovation, engagement, and growth by ensuring that all digital channels reflect the mission, values, and vision of FOCUS while delivering measurable results.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished digital marketing leader with deep expertise across all digital channels, including web, email, social media, advertising, and emerging platforms. With a proven track record in strategy, analytics, and team leadership, they know how to translate organizational priorities into innovative campaigns that inspire action and advance our mission. Collaborative and forward-thinking, this leader builds bridges across departments, equips their team for excellence, and adapts strategies in a rapidly changing digital landscape while keeping the organization’s vision and values at the heart of their work.

Position Responsibilities

Digital Strategy & Integration

  • Set the vision and lead high-level digital strategy across web, email, social media, paid advertising, and content.
  • Align annual digital plans with organizational priorities and major initiatives.
  • Ensure consistency of brand voice, messaging, and design across all digital channels.
  • Guide the Digital Team in developing and executing annual plans, campaigns, and departmental priorities.
  • Collaborate across departments to integrate digital into the broader marketing and organizational strategy.
  • Oversee the selection, management, and performance of external digital agencies and vendors.
  • Partner with the Development Team to support online fundraising efforts and optimize donor engagement strategies.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Hire, mentor, and develop members of the Digital Team.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, accountability, and alignment with mission.
  • Set clear goals, track performance, and provide feedback for growth.

Strategic Oversight of Digital Channels

  • Web:   Direct website strategy, redesign, optimization, and user experience.
  • Email:   Lead overall email marketing strategy, campaigns, workflows, segmentation, automation, and analytics.
  • Social Media: Guide social media strategy, evaluate analytics, and trend evaluation while ensuring brand consistency.
  • Digital Advertising: Lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of digital ad campaigns across departments.
  • Content Strategy: Shape digital content direction across platforms, providing oversight for storytelling, design, and creative execution.

Marketing Technology & Analytics

  • Explore automation, AI, and emerging tools to strengthen digital engagement.
  • Oversee marketing technology platforms (e.g., HubSpot, CMS, vendor tools).
  • Implement systems and regular reporting for performance tracking, reporting, and analytics across all digital channels.
  • Use insights and data to optimize campaigns and inform decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Strong personal alignment with the mission and values of FOCUS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital marketing, with demonstrated success in multi-channel campaigns.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing and developing a team.
  • Track record of successfully executing and optimizing multi-channel digital campaigns.
  • Advanced expertise in social media strategy, email marketing, paid advertising, SEO, and analytics.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management abilities.
  • Experience with HubSpot, Asana, CMS platforms, and familiarity with the Catholic digital media landscape (preferred).
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies that drive measurable outcomes.
  • Skilled at collaborating across departments and leading through influence in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong understanding of digital trends, audience engagement strategies, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to manage budgets effectively and steward resources responsibly.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills for digital platforms.
  • Comfortable representing the organization publicly in digital spaces, media, and professional networks.

Compensation & Benefits

For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000 - $125,000/year . (This role is also eligible for bonus pay.) This range is an estimate. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the provided range and will be adjusted based on various factors including qualifications, experience, abilities, geographic location, and duties.
