Position Summary The MassDOT Chief Safety Officer addresses the overall safety issues relating to transportation. The office is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all employees, passengers, and the public, in all modes of transportation, including rail, bus, commuter rail, paratransit, and highway. Coordination with other state agencies, elected officials, non-profits, and municipalities is an essential part of the work done here. The goal of the Safety Team is to identify hazards and implement risk reduction strategies. This position will be responsible for supporting 1-3 Deputy Chief Safety Officers with a focus on collecting data, performing trend analysis and being part of a team that develops a strategic vision for safety. Duties and Responsibilities * Organize and track various projects' progress * Communicate as directed with partner functions regarding enterprise maintenance and capital projects as directed by Safety/Security staff * Draft Reports under the supervision of Safety/Security staff members per CSO request * Learning the functional tasks required to move a task forward (e.g., safety risk management) * Confer with staff in order to exchange information, coordinate efforts, and obtain information concerning projects and activities. Preferred Qualifications * Proficient with Microsoft Suite (including SharePoint) * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Strong collaborator, with an ability to work with people of all cultures and backgrounds * We are looking for people with experience in multi-stakeholder projects. We want team member/s who are comfortable both working alone and in a highly collaborative office. * Candidates should be strong relationship builders, comfortable with risk, creative, and willing to ask questions. Work Schedule You will be in person at 10 Park Plaza M-Th, with an option to be remote on Fridays. You can work up to 37.5 hours a week, per your schedule, but we are looking for candidates who can work a minimum of 15 hours/week.
