Job Description

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and skilled Assistant District Attorney (ADA) to join our team in serving the people of Bucks County. As an ADA, you will play a critical role in prosecuting criminal cases, advocating for justice, and ensuring the fair application of the law. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including conducting legal research, preparing and presenting cases in court, negotiating plea deals, and collaborating with law enforcement agencies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public service, a strong understanding of criminal law, and the ability to handle a diverse caseload with professionalism and integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

Prosecute criminal cases from start to finish, including pre-trial motions, trials, and post-conviction matters.

Draft and file legal documents, such as motions, briefs, and legal memoranda.

Advise law enforcement agencies on legal issues and assist in case preparation.

Represent the Commonwealth in court hearings, including arraignments, pre-trial conferences, and trials.

Collaborate with victims, witnesses, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective presentation of cases.

Negotiate plea agreements and work towards appropriate sentencing outcomes.

Maintain thorough case files and provide accurate updates to supervisors and colleagues.

Participate in legal training, continuing education, and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Admission to practice law in Pennsylvania (or ability to be admitted within a reasonable timeframe).

Strong background in criminal law and legal procedures.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.

Commitment to public service and the pursuit of justice.
