Job Description

The Athletics Department at the College of Saint Benedict invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit-eligible positions of Assistant Athletic Director. 


The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for assisting the Director of Athletics in providing strategic direction and execution of vision for the athletic department. This individual will serve as a member of the department's leadership team and oversee a variety of administrative tasks within the department. The Assistant Athletic Director is required to adhere to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Code of Ethics and to follow the rules and regulations established by the College of Saint Benedict and the National College Athletic Association (NCAA Division III).

  • Serve as a member of the Athletic Department leadership team
  • Serve as a member of all athletic department hiring committees
  • Oversee the following areas: Athletic Training, Gameday Operations, Athletic Media Relations and Strength and Conditioning, Campus Recreation and Club Sports, Concessions
  • Organize student-athlete programming and execution of all required student-athlete education
  • Serve as an additional game manager when overlapping and/or major athletic events occur
  • Manage the distribution and collection of game contracts
  • Coordinate department awards and end of year award ceremony/banquet
  • Serve as the primary contact with the department apparel provider for promotional items
  • Attend, assist with, and participate in all Athletic Department and campus all-staff meetings as assigned
  • Participate in and support athletic department fundraisers
  • Recognize and understand gender differences and apply that knowledge in shaping positive & effective approaches to working with college-age women
  • Be knowledgeable of the college's commitment to Benedictine Values and support those values
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or the College of Saint Benedict
Department Compliance Officer 

  • Coordinate with the registrar's office on all new, transfer and continuing eligibility certifications 
  • Administer and oversee all required student-athlete compliance forms
  • Manage all staff rules education including administration of annual NCAA rules test
  • Provide rules interpretations to key stakeholders coordinating with Conference and NCAA staff as applicable
  • Oversee the submission of all waivers 
  • Monitor and oversee the Name, Image, Likeness compliance landscape
  • Update and maintain the compliance section of the athletic department manual and the CSB Athletics Compliance webpage on gobennies.com
Athletics Budget Manager 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Athletic Department with the CSB business office
  • Organize monthly credit card statements 
  • Oversee auxiliary and camp finances
  • Manage the game management, concessions and rental financials and transactions for the athletic department
  • Work with the Director of Athletics to assist with the development, planning and execution of annual budgets, capital equipment and improvement requests.
  • Update and maintain the business office section of the athletic department manual
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Advisor 

  • Oversee and provide leadership and for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
  • Oversee the selection of committee members and officers
  • Assist officers with the organization and running of regular meetings
  • Provide guidance and leadership for a variety of student events (ex. Special Olympics events)

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in sports management, business administration, education, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of previous experience in athletics and/or management/administration required
  • Experience in budget management, event planning, and compliance with athletic regulations is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, written, electronic communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills 
  • Understanding of the higher education/college/university environment
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to tolerate varying noise levels and temperature fluctuations
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time when managing athletic events
Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel between the campuses of College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University
  • Travel with teams for post-season competition as assigned
  • Occasional travel to Twin Cities area for MIAC meetings
